Nigel Farage has visited Donald Trump in the Oval Office after giving evidence to the US Congress on free speech. The leader of Reform UK shared a photo on X of himself and President Trump, with the caption: "It's good to be back in the Oval Office."

While in Washington, the Reform UK leader rebuked the UK government’s approach to regulating online speech in front of US Congress, likening it to "an awful authoritarian situation" that risks turning Britain into something akin to North Korea.
Citing the arrest of Graham Linehan by armed police for trans -sceptic posts, Farage said, "He's not even a British citizen, he's an Irish citizen, this could happen to any American man or woman that goes to Heathrow but has said things online that the British government and British police don't like."
He slammed the Online Safety Act as ill-conceived and urged US lawmakers and tech firms to apply pressure on the UK to rethink its approach, even hinting at potential trade consequences should the government not act.
Following the Oval Office meeting, Farage shared the image with President Trump on social media, then defended himself against accusations of calling for US sanctions on the UK. These claims, he said, were unfounded.
In Parliament, Prime Minister Keir Starmer dismissed Farage’s actions as unpatriotic, accusing him of undermining the UK abroad.
