Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has today revealed his plan to reverse the disastrous effects of Boris Johnson's enormous immigration record, dubbed "the Boriswave."

During Boris Johnson's time as Prime Minister, almost 4 million immigrants came to the UK to seek residency, with most of these people coming from India, Nigeria and Pakistan.

Reform says mass deportation's will save £234bn and warns ‘Boriswave’ of migration will soon destroy the welfare system

Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the Boriswave as an "open borders experiment" in his 'Island of Strangers' speech earlier in the year.

Reform UK says mass deportation would save £234bn, warning that the ‘Boriswave’ will soon obliterate the welfare system as millions are set to be given "Indefinite Leave to Remain"

Zia Yusuf has said, "We will abolish ILR altogether - including rescinding it retrospectively" and that "hundreds of thousands of people" who have been given ILR will have to reapply "ultimately losing their settled status."

What is Indefinite Leave to Remain?

Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) is when permanent residency is granted by the UK government to migrants who have been in the UK for 5 years. ILR allows individuals to live in the UK indefinitely, claim benefits and be given unlimited use of public services (such as the NHS) without the need for visa renewals.

Under Reform's plans, all migrants with ILR will be asked to reapply for new visas, likely resulting in failed applications under stricter measures.

Reform also promises to ban anyone other than British citizens from accessing welfare.

Reform UK have also announced that they will introduce Acute Skill Shortage Visa that will be strictly capped each year. Firms sponsoring this visa will have to pay a fee which will fund training of Brits in a similar role.
