Reform UK has named Sarah Pochin as its candidate for the upcoming Runcorn and Helsby by-election.

The announcement comes after former Labour MP Mike Amesbury stepped down, having received a suspended prison sentence for assaulting a constituent last year.
Sarah was a Cheshire East Borough Councillor from 2015 to 2023, serving as Mayor and Council Chairman from 2021 to 2022
Reform UK see Runcorn and Helsby as a winnable seat with a large Reform base, polling almost neck and neck with Labour. Runcorn and Helsby, a newly formed constituency established for the July general election last year, was won by Amesbury for Labour with 52.9% of the vote, giving him a majority of 14,696.
