The Metropolitan Police have initiated an investigation into suspended Reform UK MP Rupert Lowe following his referral to the authorities by the party.

On Friday, Reform UK announced they had stripped him of the whip and reported him to police, alleging he made "verbal threats" against chairman Zia Yousaf—claims Mr Lowe firmly denies.
A Met Police spokesperson confirmed they are investigating "an allegation of a series of verbal threats made by a 67-year-old man". Mr Lowe dismissed the accusations as "vexatious", suggesting it was "no surprise" they surfaced just a day after he posed "reasonable and constructive questions" about Reform leader Nigel Farage.
Speaking to the Daily Mail on Thursday, Mr Lowe had described Reform as a "protest party led by the Messiah" under Mr Farage’s leadership. Mr Lowe and his supporters argue the allegations are baseless, viewing them as a deliberate attack on him for his candid criticism of Reform’s operations and Farage’s perceived "messiah complex".
A staff member from Mr Lowe’s office reached out to Sky News to defend the embattled ex-Reform MP, stating: "Claims against Rupert Lowe are nonsense. He is a good man who is being subjected to a horrific and unfair ordeal."
