Anjem Choudary, the Islamist preacher, has been found guilty at Woolwich Crown Court of directing the terrorist organisation Al-Muhajiroun (ALM) and promoting its activities through online meetings.

The 57-year-old, from Ilford in East London, was reported to have delivered lectures to the New York-based Islamic Thinkers Society (ITS). Prosecutors argued that ITS was essentially the same as ALM, which has been banned as a terrorist organisation in the UK since 2010. Despite the ban, the group is believed to have continued operating under various aliases.
During the trial, Choudary denied soliciting support for ALM through his lectures to ITS, claiming that the group "didn't exist".
