Angela Rayner has made headlines as the first Deputy Prime Minister to be granted her own £68,000-a-year photographer, at a time when pensioners are losing winter fuel payments.

As Labour faces a barrage of scandals—ranging from scrapping winter fuel payments for all but the most vulnerable pensioners to the Prime Minister accepting lavish freebies—Rayner has also come under fire for her taxpayer-funded image boost.

While Prime Ministers have long had photographers on staff to document their official duties, this marks the first time a Deputy Prime Minister has been given such a privilege. Simon Walker has been appointed Chief Photographer to the Deputy PM and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, with a salary of £68,000 to follow Rayner during her official engagements.

Rayner acknowledged public frustration, admitting that voters are "angry" about the numerous senior Labour figures, including Sir Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves, who have accepted costly perks, such as designer clothes, luxury holidays, and event tickets, from wealthy donors.
