Boris Johnson made a surprise appearance at a Tory rally last night (2nd July), in a last-ditch effort to boost his successor's chances in the upcoming general election.

The former prime minister, who has appeared to have buried the hatchet with PM Rishi Sunak, issued stark warnings about the rise of “Putinistas” and “Corbynistas” should Labour come to power, cautioning that a vote for Reform UK would facilitate a “supermajority” for the opposition.
“When Rishi asked me to come and help, of course, I couldn’t say no,” Johnson told the crowd. “We’re all here because we love our country.”
Despite Johnson's impassioned plea, the appearance raised questions about whether the Conservatives are relying too heavily on past leadership rather than presenting a forward-looking vision. Critics argue that resurrecting familiar faces might not be enough to galvanize a weary electorate seeking fresh solutions to the nation’s challenges. The rally underscored the party’s struggle to unify its base and regain the momentum needed to secure a victory in a highly competitive political landscape.
