In the aftermath of his departure as Co-Deputy Leader of Reform UK, Ben Habib has publicly aired his grievances regarding the party's leadership and organisational structure. The ousting of Habib, marked by a series of critical remarks on social media, has highlighted significant internal discord within the party.

Habib's primary contention lies in the concentrated control over Reform UK, particularly pointing to Nigel Farage's dominant influence. Farage, who holds the majority of shares in the party, has been accused by Habib of creating a private fiefdom, where key decisions are made by a select few rather than through a democratic process. "It is imperative that Reform UK adheres to its promises to the British public," Habib stated. "This movement belongs to the people, not just a handful of leaders".
In his calls for democratisation, Habib underscored the need for the party to open up its decision-making processes to broader participation from its members. This, he argues, would align with the party's foundational promises of integrity and public representation. His criticism extends to the lack of transparency and inclusiveness in how the party is currently run, suggesting that these issues have been long-standing.
However, it's worth questioning whether Habib's criticisms are entirely justified or if they are driven by personal grievances. Following the election, where new Deputy Leader Richard Tice retained his seat and Habib did not, Nigel Farage has expressed a desire to professionalise and democratise Reform UK, with Habib's outburst being perceived as petty and counterproductive by some. Farage's push for a more structured and professional party might be exactly what is needed to steer Reform UK towards greater success, making Habib's actions appear more like unnecessary disruptions rather than constructive criticism.
